Brookhaven Park was the home of the only outdoor viewing of the Womens’ World Cup finals in the Southeast on July 4th, 2015. Soccerfest Atlanta fans, decked out in patriotic attire and waving US flags, watched and cheered Team USA on a large outdoor screen in the Park. USA quickly scored a 4-0 lead over Japan that Japan was unable to reverse, leading to USA overwhelmingly beating Japan 5-2 and realizing its dream to secure a third World Cup title.
Fans started arriving in the Park in the early afternoon before the game to enjoy food, live music, family oriented soccer events, a kids zone with face painting, bounce houses, and a Dragongoal tournament.
Thank you to everyone who stopped by Brookhaven Park Conservancy’s tent to enjoy games, learn about our group, and share ideas for the park!
